Civil Litigation in Housing, District, or Superior Court
When a tenant has moved out of an apartment, a Summary Process Eviction is no longer the appropriate vehicle through which to seek redress for damages sustained as a result of another party’s actions or omissions. In such cases, it may be appropriate to bring a civil case in a Housing Court or other court. Such cases typically are brought by former tenants who are suing their landlords for damages suffered during their tenancy. Landlords can also sue former tenants for back rent or damage to their property.
